Of Monsters and Men
Of Monsters and Men is an amiable group of day dreamers from Iceland who craft folkie pop songs. The group was forged in 2010, when Nanna recruited extra hands to bolster her sound for a solo show, soon after which they began writing songs together. The new group earned a slot on the influential Iceland Airwaves festival later that year, followed by a Living Room Session filmed there being posted by a Seattle radio station, setting the telltale ripple effect in motion. Their rapid rise transpired in just one year. By the summer of 2011, the group’s bright, trumpeting single “Little Talks” hit #1 in the band’s native country. Though their reach is growing broader, the group’s appeal has remained distinct: Their music is as fantastical as it is pretty. In September 2011, their full-length debut, My Head Is An Animal, was released in Iceland and hit #1 there soon after. It dropped in North America in April of 2012.
