Metric
Need proof that independent music is still alive and kickin’? Look no further than Metric: the Canadian indie rock band that gave us Fantasies, which has been released on five continents, sold over a million singles, and 500,00 albums -- all without the support of a label. They’ve pumped out many well-loved radio hits; you'll recognize tunes like "Gimme Sympathy," "Gold Guns Girls," and "Help I'm Alive." In addition to releasing albums all of their own, they’ve also collaborated for movie soundtracks (they got on the Grammy Award nomination shortlist for a song they wrote with Howard Shore), and they’re helping work on the score for David Cronenberg’s latest film Cosmopolis. They've just released a new album this year, titled Synthetica, which contains new tracks like 'Youth Without Youth.'
