M83
For being a mostly one-man band (he records mostly by himself), M83 manages to produce a pretty big sound. Need proof? Check out the newest release: a double-album drop titled Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming whose sound sits somewhere at the intersection of experimental rock, 80s pop, and electronica. The first single off this record, "Midnight City," was an almost instant success. Anthony Gonzalez, a native of France (who is a cinema lover as well as an electronic music artist), has travelled with acts like Kings of Leon, Depeche Mode, and The Killers (catch ‘em right at Deck the Hall Ball!), which has influenced him to beef up his vocals, and really shine as a powerful front man. In fact, listen to M83’s entire library: you can hear a progression in the music, proof that the band is constantly experimenting with sound, meaning every performance is a special one, and M83 is always worth seeing.
