Grouplove
The story of Grouplove’s inception is almost a fairy tale. After a chance meeting in New York City, Hannah Hooper and Christian Zucconi both ran off to an artist’s residence in Crete, where they met and meshed with Andrew Wessen, Ryan Rabin, and Sean Gadd, who make up the rest of what would later become Grouplove. After their brief stay in Greece, the members scattered back to their prospective corners of the globe (members Ryan and Andrew hail from LA, and Sean from London), but later reunited in Ryan's home studio to record their self-titled EP. The experience of recording together was so intense to them that Hannah and Christian ended up packing up their lives in Brooklyn and moving to LA to embrace their new found sound full-time. This EP eventually evolved into their first full album release, titled Never Trust a Happy Song, with awesome tracks like 'Colors' and 'Tongue Tied,' the latter of which peaked at #42 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and was featured in an iPod Touch commercial.
